Public Forum on Ozark Aquifer in TriState Area to Address

Long-Term Interstate Groundwater Availability

The public is invited to attend the final Ozark aquifer forum on Wednesday, August 26, 7-9 p.m. at the Mills Anderson Justice Center, Missouri Southern State University, Joplin, Missouri.  The forum will further the understanding of the Ozark Aquifer water supply issues by discussing the findings of the recently completed study conducted in Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Arkansas.  The study has been a partnership of the U.S. Geological Survey, state agencies, and local participants to address the issues of concern relative to the Ozark Aquifer.

The agenda will include presentations and results from the Ozark aquifer water quality and groundwater modeling studies and how the findings will help address the issues of concern.

The most recent report describing the groundwater model developed to simulate water level changes in the Ozark Aquifer will be available August 21.  Information on how to access the report will be provided in a news release on this date.
