New Public Forum on Ozark Aquifer in TriState Area to Address Long-Term Interstate Ground Water Availability

The public is invited to attend a forum about Ozark Aquifer water supply issues on Wednesday, November 8, 7-9 p.m., at the Overman Student Center, Crimson and Gold Ballroom, Pittsburg State University, Pittsburg, Kansas. The forum is a collaboration between the U.S. Geological Survey and the Pittsburg State University Biology Department, to further the understanding of the Ozark Aquifer. Objectives, future plans, and to-date accomplishments of a study being conducted in Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Arkansas will be presented. The study is a partnership between several federal, state, and local agencies to address the issues of concern relative to the Ozark Aquifer. The agenda will include presentations about the Ozark Aquifer and how the organizations are helping address the issues of concern. Posters will be on display with more information about the Ozark Aquifer and allow opportunities for individual and group interactions, beginning at 6:30 p.m. The USGS serves the nation by providing reliable scientific information to: describe and understand the Earth; minimize loss of life and property from natural disasters; manage water, biological, energy, and mineral resources; and enhance and protect our quality of life.
